The Ladies festival of football took place at Newbold Revel Prison Service College
on Wednesday 25 th May, when 14 establishments played 36 games of 6-a-side
football in a spirited, competitive and very sporting manner.
After the round robin stages, which saw each team play 5 games in their mini
leagues, Berwyn, Woodhill, Swinfen Hall and Drake Hall progressed through to the
Cup Semi-Finals, with Woodhill beating Berwyn in the final in a very exciting penalty
shootout.
The plate Semi-Finals were contested by Long Lartin, Onley/Hewell, Belmarsh and
Stoke Heath with Onley/Hewell beating a very spirited Belmarsh team in the final.
Well done to all players, they made this day a celebration of sport that was played in
the right manner, it was fantastic to see our hard working staff (hidden Hero’s) taking
time off to participate and it was a great day out for all those that attended.
Finally it would be remiss of me not to mention the other 4 teams that didn’t progress
through to the final stages, but never the less played a very important part in making
the day a success, well done to Styal, Elmley, Wayland, Whitemoor.
