Emergency Services Road Race.

On the 4th of August, Adam and Elliot headed to the Midlands to race in this year’s

Emergency Services Road Race.

This year’s race attracted the best riders from the Police, Fire Service and NHS. On the start sheet was 3-time champion Ben from the NHS who is an elite license holder, as well as many other riders with elite and category 1 licenses who race across the UK and Europe for their semi-professional trade teams.

A field of 40 riders took to the start line on a fine sunny day. The course was classed as rolling with one longer climb. The race would take on the course over 4 laps with a total distance of 75km. Both Adam and Elliot stayed with the main bunch for the first lap as the early attacks happened with no real break getting clear up the road. Things started to get a bit spicy on lap two on the long climb which saw Elliot getting gapped from the main group and forming the second group on the road. Adam was riding well, staying out of trouble near the front of the main group and contributing to the control of the race. Attacks started to happen as riders tried to force a break away from the main group. This took its toll and the main group started to lose riders, but Adam stayed strong and responded well. However,

for Adam the legs went on lap 4 on the final climb as he lost contact with the small

main group as they rolled over the top.

As the race crossed the line, the two PSSA riders finished in very respectable positions in what was the strongest Road Race field for many years with Elliot finishing in 27th and Adam in 17th . A great ride from our guys who were well out numbered for teammates against some super strong teams from the Police, Fire Service and NHS.
