April Angling - Interservice Pairs

Updated: Jun 1, 2022

On the 27th of April 76 Anglers attended for the interservice pairs event held at Lindholme Lakes. Anglers came from far and wide to claim the title of interservice pairs champions.

Andrew Burness & James Burrell win at Interservice Pairs Event.

Spread across two of the complex’s most famous lakes expectations were high for some excellent weights and hopefully a tight match.

Weather conditions played a massive part on the day’s action and many anglers struggled to put a string of fish together.

I was located on the Bonsai Lake peg 51 with my partner, James Burrell, pegged on the Benny’s Lake peg 53.

After the first 2 hrs it was clear that it was going to be slow on the bonsai lake and at this point, I had 6 small fish. A quick call to James confirmed that those on the Benny’s Lake were also struggling, this meant that the result could be a tight affair at the end.

After the 5 hours I had managed to locate a few fish and with others struggling around the lake I was confident that a top ten finish might be on the cards.

As the scales went round it was clear that the whole complex had fished hard and a decent weight could be crucial.

As the scores were recorded it was clear that those few extra fish had been crucial.

From the 38 pairs taking part the prison service recorded 3 from the top 4 pairs with the fire brigade securing second place just a point short. Myself and James had recorded top spot with myself finishing in 6th place with james finishing third on his lake giving us a 9 point total.
